Sports Update

Coach Rachel Peake's MS volleyball team continues to dominate their opponents, beating both Laurens at home and King on the road this week.

The varsity team, however, split with their two opponents this week, losing a heart breaking tie-breaker fifth set, 13-15, to Laurens on Tuesday. Thursday's match against King produced better results with the Lady Eagles defeating the Lady Knights, 3-1.

Just when it looked as though the MS football team would also keep their winning streak intact, the Knights scored with 29 seconds left in Thursday's game at King to beat the Eagles 20-18.

The varsity football team will make the long road trip to face Andrew Jackson on the gridiron Friday night with kickoff at 7:30 P.M. Good luck, Eagle team and coaching staff! Safe travels to all.

Volleyball Teams in Action

Both MS and varsity volleyball teams will host region foe Laurens Academy today, beginning with the MS match at 4:00 P.M. The varsity match will follow the MS match at approximately 5:00 P.M. Come support our Lady Eagle teams!

Homecoming is a WINN Win!

Homecoming Spirit Week came to a close around 10 P.M. Friday, Sept. 23, when the final seconds ticked off the game clock as the Eagles dominated their Clarendon Hall opponents, 39-6.

Highlighting the half-time festivities was the crowning of Homecoming royalty. Senior Grace Wilder was crowned Homecoming Queen while Emily Keys, a senior, was named Football Sweetheart.

Prior to the game, the first ELC Prince and Princess were crowned along with awards presented for the most creatively decorated collection boxes.

In addition to it  being a Chick-fil-A biscuit day, Friday morning started with lots of pep and excitement as the Homecoming Court paraded through the hallways "riding" their decorated BiLo grocery buggies. Following this, the entire student body assembled in the gym for a formal introduction of the Homecoming Court and a pep rally.  Senior QB Mitchell Gibbons was crowned Homecoming King. The four senior football players, joined by Todd Johnson and Bryant Carvalho, performed the "Smooth & Creamy" routine, and they even managed to coerce Coach O'Connell to participate. Following the pep rally, voting for Homecoming Queen took place and then students headed out to Ruff Field to decorate a section of the fence with blue, yellow, and white solo cups.

As the saying goes..."A picture is worth a thousand words!"

A Fun-filled Week!

Homecoming Spirit Week is quickly coming to a close but not without leaving behind lots of fun memories of the theme dress-up days, the lunch games, the class competitions, the door and hall decorating, the dances, the bonfire, etc.

Thursday's activities included a camouflage theme day, two after school dances, a car bash, bonfire, and auction. The Lady Eagles varsity volleyball team traveled to Johnston to face the Wardlaw Patriots across the net. Unfortunately, RWA fell to the host team in 4 sets, 1-3.

Friday's final day promises more fun in store...from an early morning pep rally to voting for King, Queen, Sweetheart, Prince, and Princess to a pre-game Eagle Swoop party to the kickoff of RWA vs. Clarendon Hall at 7:30 P.M. In addition, the announcement and crowning of RWA's royal court will take place during the day's festivities.

If you can't make it to the earlier events, be sure to join in on the fun as we cheer on our Eagles to a Homecoming victory over the Saints on the Ruff Field gridiron. Don't miss your chance to visit and reminisce with alumni and support our Eagle football team. #homecoming2016 #throwdownforourhometown #winnfb

Who Will Be Our ELC Prince and Princess?

Eagle Leaders Represent

Seniors Mitchell Gibbons, Grace Wilder, and Madison Wade attended the Leadership Conference at the Citadel on Tuesday.

"We've Got Spirit...Yes, We Do!"

Two days into Spirit Week, it's clear that students and staff are excited and spirited about all the Homecoming events that are happening.

Monday and Tuesday were celebrated with tie dye and gender swap while Wednesday's theme will be Pajama Day. Back by popular demand are Camo Day on Thursday and Spirit Day on Friday.

Thursday's events also include after school dances for the younger Eagles, and then a Bon Fire and Eagle Bash will take place that evening. In addition to the big game kickoff on Friday at 7:30 P.M. and  the crowning of Homecoming Queen and Sweetheart at halftime, an Eagle Swoop party will take place in the parking lot prior to the game from 5:30-7:00 P.M. A newly added event includes the crowning of an ELC Prince and Princess just before game time.

Homecoming t-shirts are scheduled to be distributed before the end of school on Thursday.
