Fall Sports Update

Coming off a season opening 13-44 loss to the Wardlaw Patriots, the Eagles will seek to get their first win of the season on the road tonight as they make the long road trip to Mt. Pleasant. RWA will take on Coastal Christian a day earlier than scheduled due to the bad weather predictions for Friday.

The Lady Eagles volleyball teams faced conference foe Laurens on Tuesday in Laurens.  The MS Eagles captured their second win of the season, but, unfortunately, the varsity outcome was less favorable, falling 1-3 to the Lady Crusaders.

The MS volley girls will host Calhoun Academy today (Thursday) at 4:00 P.M. Come support our young Lady Eagles. Good luck and safe travels to our varsity football team, coaches, and fans.

Chapel Time Is Cherished

Students and staff continue to be blessed and inspired by the weekly chapel programs, led by Bethel ARP's Rev. James McManus.

A week ago our own Dr. Clyde McCants, who is also pastor at the White Oak ARP Church, delivered a wonderful message on the topic of kindness based on 2 Samuel 9: 1-8.

Yesterday's guest speaker was Rock Hill's Ebenezer ARP Youth Director James Robbins who referenced Matthew 12: 46-50 in stressing the importance of being a member of God's family.

RWA is fortunate to have senior Mitchell Gibbons share his guitar and vocal skills in leading the music.

Football Changes

Because of the threat of bad weather, the middle school football game scheduled for Thursday has been canceled.

The varsity football game has been moved to 5:00 P.M.Thursday (Sept. 1) at Coastal Christian in Mt. Pleasant.

Eagles End an Active First Spirit Week

RWA students and staff closed out the first Spirit Week last Friday with a Chick-fil-A biscuit day;
blue and gold face and body paint, wigs, and unique costumes; an early morning pep rally with a special visit from Winn-ie Eagle; and kickoff of the 2016 football season.

Student Government officers, along with the varsity cheerleaders, worked hard to get the crowd pumped up and spirited with games and cheer competitions during the pep rally.

The week climaxed with the Eagles hosting the Wardlaw Patriots on the Ruff Field gridiron. The competition started out with the Eagles scoring on their first possession and then scoring once more following a Patriot turn over. However, the Patriots then kicked their game plan into action and controlled the remainder of the game. Unfortunately, the game ended with the visitors on top, 44-13.

Look for photos from the week to be posted online in the near future on the following website:

Rockin' and Rappin'

Students and staff got the opportunity Wednesday to dress the part of either a rocker or rapper. Needless to say, students were dressed in lots of black clothing, "tattoos," sequins, and jewelry.

The Eagles, under the direction of new head coach Bob O'Connell, kick off the 2016 season on the home gridiron tonight (8/26) at 7:30 P.M.

The Eagle cheerleading squad, led by another staff newcomer, Mrs. Misty Mathis, will help get the fans and players pumped up, beginning at the 8 A.M. pep rally.

In addition, Friday is SPIRIT DAY at RWA! Be sure to show your school spirit by dressing in BLUE and GOLD and come support the football team under the Friday night lights at Ruff Field.

Lady Eagles WINN

The varsity volleyball team traveled to Heathwood Hall Thursday afternoon and notched their first "W" over the Lady Highlanders in three straight sets. Oddly enough, the three victories ended in the exact same score, 25-22, 25-22, and 25-22.
Both the MS and varsity squads go on the road Tuesday (8/30) to face upstate region foe Laurens Academy. The match-up against the Lady Crusaders will be the first of the season's region competition.
Congratulations, Lady Eagles and coaches!

Lady Eagles Drop Match to Wardlaw

Sr. Alyssa Atkerson #11
The Lady Patriots came "marching in" to the Eagles' Nest and left the Lady Eagles with a 3-0 loss, 13-25, 11-25, and 22-25.

Returning only two starters from the 2015 squad, the young RWA team is looking to gel, figure out team dynamics, and get more game experience as the season progresses.
