RWA Summer Activities

Even though the school bells are no longer ringing, the halls are no longer filled with students changing classes, and the textbooks have been put away for the summer, that doesn't mean that RWA has been void of activity! No, not at all!

Beginning right after Memorial Day, Coach Haltiwanger hosted morning and afternoon youth basketball camps, then two weeks later Coaches Sims and Peake hosted youth volleyball camps, and just this past week the varsity cheerleaders, under the direction of Ms.Trammell with several cheer parents assisting, hosted a youth cheer camp. Even now Coach Millie Lambert is busy planning two softball camps for July 8-10. (See a separate blog post with that info.) And all in between, student-athletes and coaches have been making regular visits to work out in the weight room and on the practice courts and fields to get prepared for the upcoming 2015-2016 athletic seasons.

2015 Volleyball Campers

2015 Youth Cheerleaders

Sadly Dr. Coleman and Ms. Lisa Davis busied themselves over the past month with closing out the business they had left to do before their recent departures. The RWA family will certainly miss them as well as Coach Al Berry, Mrs. Amelia Ellison, and Mrs. Missy Taylor! We thank them all for their loyal and dedicated service to Richard Winn Academy and wish them all the best!

In the next few days, RWA will be welcoming Dr. Henry Selby as the new Head of School. Please stop by to welcome him to the RWA Family and offer him your assistance in making this a smooth transition.

Enjoy what's left of summer vacation! Have fun and be safe!

Alumnus Wins $25,000 Award

CONGRATULATIONS to one of our alumni - Jack Livings, the 2015 winner of the PEN Award! The RWA family is so proud of all Jack has accomplished in the literary world and particularly thrilled about the recent PEN award announcement for his book, The Dog! We can proudly boast that Richard Winn Academy is where Jack got his start! "Hold its banner ever high!"

Jack, RWA Class of 1992,  is the son of Ms. Bootsie (Laurens) McMaster Livings, a former elementary music teacher at Richard Winn.
